Week 7 May the Force be with You

The Force

This is a short post tonight.  But I wanted to shout it out to the world because this exercise has finally got me excited about something.  I spent a good part of the late afternoon and early evening listening to short samples of various musical styles, albums, and artists on iTunes.  One nice feature is that you can play a short representative part of the entire song or composition and not have to buy it.  That works until you find it.  And then you know it when you hear it…

When I began the Imperial March, Darth Vader’s Theme,  I knew I’d found gold!  That’s it.  That’s Don Ketterhagen”s theme music for this exercise.  My DMP to music.   Awesome.  I quickly set up a couple of computer speakers to plug into my laptop, turned the iPhone into a recording device and started reading my DMP card, my law of Giving and Receiving, the movie trailer with embellishment according to the pace of the music.  It was fun, fun, fun. And darn good for a first effort.  With a little practice this is going to be my go to in the car and while exercising.

Never thought of my old blue print as Darth Vader but it is the evil that I must defeat… May the Force be with you all!

I was born in the same hospital I trained in almost 65 years ago. Family came from good old Germanic stock matched with my Irish mother's value added good cooking and discipline. I had four brothers and I was the oldest. Education was with the Notre Dame nuns, the Jesuit priests, and then the Holy Cross fathers at Notre Dame. I completed my medical school back in Milwaukee and actually trained in the same hospital I was born in. My best thing that ever happened to me was meeting and then marrying my Kathy, a patient and loving gal who has given me three great sons and a lot of her patience. The story is longer, but for now check out donketterhagen.com for more specifics. We spend our days building a Lyoness shopping network and living in the mountains of North Carolina in the summer and Estero, Florida over the winter. Life is good.

  1. Love it !! It’s been a long time since I heard that particular piece of music. One of John Williams’ more memorable musical scores. If you are marching to that tune, then I had better get out of your way !! Personally, I am finding it increasingly hard to find the time to accomplish this sort of task. NOT a complaint – merely a statement regarding my particular pet ‘issue’. I want to thank you for pointing out that this may not be quite the time-consuming exercise that I was dreading that it might be !! Your hints and tips as to the ‘how’ of this were most welcome. Thanks again, Don.

    1. Thanks, Dave. I really appreciate your comments. As they say that “you can pay me now or pay me later.” So often I’ll get a good start on something but for me the work comes in completing the task, in follow through. Hope to encourage you to keep going on.
